Hey,
They say the destination is not as important as the journey. Obviously, those who say that never had to walk the dry lands of the Uku Pacha, like our hero.
Another thing: don’t bother googling the author of the quote. I made him and the quote up.
It’s an old game that more than one writer has played, and I first found it in some of Jorge Luis Borges’ short stories. I thought it was a fun thing to do, and discovered that the more ambiguous the quote, the better it works. I’m not pretending to be serious or profound doing this. If I were, I wouldn’t tell you.
Or maybe I would, so you wouldn’t suspect.
Wouldn’t i?
Anyway.
If you’ve been here for a while, perhaps you’ve already noticed that every five weeks I done one of these crosshatched strips with a famous quote at the end. Well, this “second year” of The Condor strips I’ll keep doing it, but with made-up quotes. Just don’t tell the new readers.
Let them realize it themselves.
It’ll be our little secret. Just between you and me.
The thing is, the quotes in the older strips are legit. Shakespeare, Milton, Jung. Cool people that actually existed.
Those strips, if you’re inclined to contribute to the existence of this newsletter, are included in a beautiful book, along with many other strips and extras. You can get it for 12.99, which is way less than the price of a steak at a restaurant, and just as juicy.
Where do you find it, you ask? Right here.
Enjoy.
About time someone recognized the wisdom of Thephocle of Samus. He doesn't get quoted often enough.
This is my favorite to date of the Condor series by L.E. Mullin.
