The line about the hunger of the soul makes me think that maybe answering that hunger, today, not someday, can be a habit too. A small, ordinary one. And once it is, running isn’t escape anymore. It’s just movement.
A really good story, with Condor becoming an unexpected impulse for someone else to move, without even meaning to.
Thank you again for mentoring us. I will say it again and again. I received a rejection for one of my novels and was going to shelve it because I thought it was crap. I went back and read the fine print and they said they would look at it again if I rewrote it. I am a follower. I am listening. So I am rewriting. I wasn't going to comment because I am always over here over-sharing. But what you post matters. It is so hard being an unknown author trying to get traction. Thank you again for believing in us. I'll let you know what happens. ❤️💕❤️
It's great that what I write is helping you, Laura. In my experience, rewriting is fun but also very hard, so good luck, and do let us know how it turns out.
Properly understood, "habit" is essential to this process of enchanting the everyday. We are accustomed to think of habit in a negative manner as mere routine, or as compulsively repetitive behavior that we would alter if only we had the willpower. That is, we are inclined to place habit squarely within the sphere of determined behavior. Indeed, habit as acquired disposition is of no great significance if one understands the order of the world to be the result of a transcendent Creator, or as the mechanical instancing of transcendent Laws of Nature. For in such cases, habitual actions merely replicate the necessities of things; they are the involuntary expression of our given instincts and needs. - Roger T. Ames, Dao De Jing (Introduction)
Your strip made my mind feel like a wind whisked meadow at sunrise. I closed my eyes and could almost hear the Condor’s wings beating against the inertia that lives in all of us. You’re right. At first, willpower feels like a tiny flame trembling in the dark, but habit is the sunrise that burns the horizon gold without asking permission. There’s something sacred in showing up every single day, in turning the key of intention and letting routine open the door we didn’t even know was stuck.
Thank you for the inspiration and great advice, LE! Your words really resonated with me as I approach a full year's worth of my own, little weekly (weakly? 😊) strip, Dark Planet. It's hard to believe but I've kept it going and alive for 49 weeks. Your support and encouragement is greatly appreciated! I always look forward to the Condor's adventures!!
"Impresionante cómo logras plasmar la lucha entre la densidad de la supervivencia y el hambre del alma. El Cóndor no solo vuela, es un pulso de libertad que atraviesa la Lattice del caos urbano. ¡Gran trabajo, maestro!"
Amen - on Routine. Without that, it is easy to become a piece of animated furniture - I've been there, and am always, potentially. Thanks for writing and drawing - great stuff.
Short, straight to the point, well crafted — and with a powerful lesson worthwhile to remember. Excellent piece mate, thanks for a pleasant evening read! 🤝

Glad you liked the story. And yeah, I agree with you, feeding the soul can be a small and yet life-changing habit.

Excellent work again.
Christ.
Discipline sounds like a solid advice but my kind of a bohemian finds a credible way around it. 😄
Thanks, Elva.

That Lord Byron reference was fire!
Thanks, man.
Puppet is not focused on the immediate problem.
Because he’s a poet and a dreamer.
Very impressive that he can daydream at such a time.

There is something sacred in a habit, yes. If it’s the right habit, time can transfrom it into a tradition of faith.

That’s great, Gary. 49 weeks is a lot already, keep pushing!
Loving the vibe and the message. Excellent comic artwork. Thank you for your creative flare!
Thank you! Glad you like it.
“Citing Lord Byron on street corners…” love this. Love your dialogue AND your art. 🔥
Thank you, Terence.
Habits are underappreciated. Thanks for reminding me!
You're welcome. It's a reminder I need, too, from time to time.

"But when you make a small decision once a day, after a few weeks, it’s not a decision anymore.
It’s a habit." Thanks for this. SO VALUABLE....
Glad it helps.

Thanks, man. I do try to put a little more effort into the Sunday emails.
It shows! Looking forward to more 🤝
