The beast is finally out
The Flight of The Condor: The Complete Saga
Hey,
I'm not sure this is for everyone.
I'm not sure if it is a good idea to spend seven years of your life writing and drawing a single story.
When I started, i had no audience. There was no one to write to. I was alone in a room, imagining a character that was maybe too obscure, too obsessive, too dense.
Now, I don't consider myself an obscure person. I'm actually a funny and optimistic guy. But there was this part of me, like there is inside all of us, I guess, that wanted to go out.
And it took its time to go out.
Patiently.
Obsessively.
Now, seven years after I drew the first panel of the first page of the first graphic novel, the beast is out.
A lot can change over seven years, but the biggest one is that I found you. Yeah, dear reader. You. I found an audience. And that happened in the last year and a half, when I started posting strips about our hero in this newsletter.
But there's one thing that hasn't changed, and won't change as long as I keep writing and drawing: I am alone in a room.
Now, perhaps that's what gives a cheerful guy like myself the fuel to create such an obscure graphic novel. Because for many people, it's probably too obscure. Too obsessive. Too dense.
But for me, it’s perfect.
And if you're reading this, perhaps it is perfect for you, too.
